Last year’s Roi de Balcon geraniums, carefully pruned, fed and watered, have finally started flowering again. For the last month I’ve noticed similar, over-wintered plants in other people’s window boxes already in full flower, benefitting from spring sunshine at an east, south or west facing window.  This window faces just east of north, so the plants have been biding their time.

Last summer the plants were a bright cascade of flowers, catching your eye as you came through the courtyard door two floors below.  They’ve got a way to go to be eye-catching this year but if you know where to look there’s a welcoming touch of colour up above.
