A newly opened passion flower, beautiful but strange, like an exotic sea creature trapped in tangled sea weed. Only an hour since I took this photo, the outer petals are starting to curl and turn green now.
A bumblebee flew straight past the flower, paying it no attention. Maybe this South American flower is too strange for a French bee to recognise as a source of nectar. In their native habitat passion flowers are pollinated by hummingbirds. Clearly it takes a lot to impress a hummingbird.
