From a distance it looks as though the walls of the Pavillon des Canaux are covered with attractively decorative wallpaper. Up close it’s just as attractive but it’s clear there’s more to this wallpaper than simple decoration.
The theme of this mural, by Koralie, is social inequality resulting from the impact of climate change. It’s part of a project, entitled Le Climat au Pied du Mur, involving five, well known Paris street artists. Initiated by CARE, the project aims to raise awareness of the urgent need for an ambitious and just agreement at the climate change summit, COP21.
Climate change will affect everyone in the future but vulnerable communities are already feeling the impact in many parts of the world. Campaigners at CARE are convinced that the ‘two degree’ target isn’t ambitious enough.
