On a hazy day with a flat, white sky the distant buildings are indistinct but there’s still an exhilarating sense of space and distance in the view from the belvedere. The landmark buildings shown in the mosaic panorama stand out clearly on the skyline despite the haze.
Below the belvedere the park steps down the hillside in curving terraces, their contours highlighted by dense ribbons of clipped shrubs.
In the middle distance the view is dominated by grey and white tower blocks; the spaces in between the towers frame older, more characterful buildings.
Near at hand, newly painted towers frame a giant child gazing out over the city. Trapped, hiding or dreaming?
My visit to Parc de Belleville was prompted by the Weekly Photo Challenge Landscape.
