Sights, sounds and scents combine to make the Giardini Botanici Hanbury a feast for the senses.  As you step through the entrance gate your eye is drawn down precipitous flights of steps towards the sea crashing against the rocks far below.  Paths wind down the slope among towering palm trees and pines, olive and citrus trees, giant agaves and small herds of cacti.  There’s a rich medley of bird song, the scent of wisteria, roses and  lemons, rustling bamboos and crunching gravel.

Distant views were lost in haze today so my photos are mostly details.  There are more views on the botanic garden’s web site here and a brief history of this extraordinary and beautiful place on a Wikipedia page here.
