Whatever the delights and distractions of Paris, it’s good to get away sometimes, to fall asleep to the hooting of an owl and to (half) wake to a dawn chorus, to walk straight out of town onto country lanes and riverside footpaths.  The little river port of St Goustan, on one of the many tidal estuaries that flow into Brittany’s Golfe de Morbihan, was a great place for a week out of town and off line.

Like many well intentioned holiday postcards (of the cardboard variety) this one is being posted on my arrival home.  On the evening of a bank holiday Monday Paris feels very peaceful, but it is big!
