Overlapping umbrellas, buffeted by the wind, covered the snaking queue with an undulating, multicoloured coat.  It might have made a great photo from above but I wasn’t tempted to join the umbrella sheltered line waiting to climb the tower of Notre Dame cathedral.  Holding the umbrella over my camera would have been impossible up there in the teeth of the wind.

It rained all day yesterday and is forecast to keep raining till tomorrow, when there will be showers.  The sky is a solid grey but the wet pavements glisten with reflected light and brightly coloured umbrellas stand out as points of colour in monochrome streets.
