A timeless picture of summer in the Jardin du Luxembourg. Model boats have been sailing the calm waters of the pond since 1888. Here’s an ‘antique’ version:
It ages the photo by fifty years but the sludge coloured water is unappealing.
Perhaps black and white is a better way of achieving that sense of timelessness.
Last week people were moving the park chairs into the sun, to enjoy the warmth. Now the full heat of summer has arrived and it’s the shade that’s getting crowded.
The pale gravel reflects the sun. It’s quite dazzling in the middle of the day so the shadow of an orange tree in a Versailles tub makes a welcome place to pause.
There are some fixed benches in the park but the chairs are much more popular. Sun, shade or any combination of the two, gregarious or solitary. Pick your seat and move it to the place that’s just right for you.
