The insects in the Jardin des Plantes are spoilt for choice.  Flowers in all shapes and sizes have nectar on offer but there’s no doubting the bumblebees’ current favourites: bright yellow flowers in the daisy family.

 

 

I hoped to identify the bees from these photos but I can’t even work out how many different species there are in the pictures.  It looks as though there are probably some garden bumblebees (Bombus hortorum), maybe a tree bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum), perhaps a cuckoo bee (Bombus bohemicus).  And yes, there are several honey bees in the pictures too, mostly face down in the purple ball of thistle flowers.
