Looking out for brightly coloured autumn leaves yesterday, my eye was drawn to other contrasts of orange against grey, brightening the city streets.
Outside a florists shop terracotta pots stood out against the grey paving, almost as bright as the flowers on display, but a single pumpkin was star of the show.
Or perhaps not. This passer-by was intrigued by the orange Physalis pods, commonly known as Chinese lanterns. (Click on any photo for a closer view).
At the baker’s next door it’s the orange table and chairs that add a touch of autumn colour, coordinated with the florist’s display.
An eye-catching coincidence, unless someone chooses the right chairs from the side of the shop to complement the flowers of the season.

I love the complementary colours in your photos. And the sharp contrasts.
