On a mild autumn afternoon life on the river Seine looks very appealing. On a stormy day in February, when swirling brown water overtops the quay, walking out of the front door may not be so straightforward for these river residents.

Cool – I have always wanted to try that. I know in some places they rent them out for short trips. Maybe one day….
Lovely shots 🙂

Most of the live-aboard boats in central Paris seem to be pretty much static, except for moving up and down with the river level.

Love these. We have English friends who had a similar boat, but they used it to cruise the French waterways during part of the year, and were lucky enough to be there for part of a day. It was grand.

Fancy waking up to that view each morning…. I’d try to suffer the winter on the river for that!

These are quite nice doors for a boat! Nice finds:) Heard it’s a lot of upkeep living on a boat 9 that burst my bubble about the romantic idea of living on a boat!)

I guess that the main drawbacks to living on a boat in central Paris are the thousands of tourists peering in your windows from the quay and partying on the tour boats that pass by on the river. I’m sure these moorings don’t come cheap either!

Nice boat doors but you did something that was very sneaky (intentionally??). Every time you click on the boat images to see an enlarged view, was it you intention to have that blue door in the background buildings appear? Awesome trick (almost rivals Dan’s photoshoped sign)!

Pure chance! The photos were all taken on the same stretch of the river – the boats are next door neighbours – so the blue door just snuck in. There is a great selection of doors on Île St Louis, just across the water. They’ve featured in earlier posts.

They are all so lovely. I could quite happily live on one of those.
