Alga, moss and tree trunks mark the passing of time. In the older part of Père Lachaise cemetery some family tombs are kept in pristine condition while others have been left to age gracefully. Once white stone is tinged with green on the shady side of each mausoleum and the intricate details of iron doors are softened by weathered paint and rust.

The cemetery does have its spooky corners but, thanks to the trees and birds, its a surprisingly welcoming, peaceful place.

Some seriously beautiful doors can be found in cemeteries. This is a wonderful collection you’ve captured here – well done 🙂

Those doors are great, especially during the daylight. At night? They might be just a little creepy. 🙂

Nice; too bad the tenants will never use those doors.
