A tracery of branches fills an empty window pane. A stone trefoil frames a spray of red berries.  Light filters softly through dusty glass and spiders’ webs.

A selection of windows from Père Lachaise cemetery.  Many of the family tombs in the older part of the cemetery are built in the form of a tiny chapel with a single window opposite the doorway. Glimpses through to light and life beyond the tomb offer symbolic possibilities; comfort and life to come for the bereaved if not for the departed.
