Varnished wood, white limestone, glass and a little brass – variations on a theme in four Parisian doorways. Click on any door to view the gallery.
These doorways divide into two pairs. The light, elegant, round-topped doors are both in a street near Gare de Lyon. The solid, square doors are near neighbours in rue Notre Dame des Champs, in the sixth arrondissement. Both show variations on a particular local theme.

Oh, I love doors, old doors. So characterful. These are great shots.

That last one is definitely my favourite – the door and the brickwork.

There’s something a little fanciful about that one, as if the designer didn’t expect you to take it too seriously.

I like them all, but I really enjoyed the little more whimsical feel that the curved wood gives to the first door on the left, the one with the detail at the top. So attractive and the glass gives it a lighter look.

All gorgeous but that last one is my fave. The carvings, the handles, and the brickwork are all things of beauty.

Lovely doors, but the last one takes the biscuit! All that carving and the massive handles….
