It’s bewildering when you’re in a hurry to catch a train but Gare Montparnasse isn’t a bad place to take a camera on a rainy day.
Arriving at the station on foot or bike, there’s no doubt where the front entrance to the station is.
Passengers arriving by metro at Montparnasse-Bienvenüe finally emerge at the centre of the station but is this Level 1 Hall 3 or Level 3 Hall 1?

SNCF have done their best to make the station welcoming, with colourful murals, photographic exhibitions….
and a large waiting area with table football and a children’s play area.
Temporary hoardings host an exhibition on venerable trees, relaxing but a little incongruous.
