Sunshine and showers at Parc Montsouris. On a Sunday afternoon of uncertain weather, wide spreading trees offered welcome shelter and formed the focal points for gatherings of different sorts. These three trees were hosting two birthday parties, a small family outing and a group of scouts.
Opened in 1869, Parc Montsouris was developed in the newly fashionable à l’Anglaise style, which meant a wide variety of different trees planted in informal groups. New trees have been added over the years but some grand specimens dating from the parks early years are still thriving, lending their distinctly different characters to different parts of the park.
