There’s work going on at the Musée de Cluny. The museum of life and art in the Middle Ages is in the middle of a restoration programme, due to finish in 2020. Hoardings went up recently, hiding the beautiful medieval building, but someone had the inspired idea to make the hoardings a work of (almost medieval) art in themselves.
Plain, rough sawn timber, beautiful calligraphy, photographic details of objects from the museum collection and tiny but resourceful cartoon builders combine to make the hoardings restful on the eye but full of interesting details. There’s even a castellated top to the fence, echoing the stone wall that’s currently hidden from view.
