As President Trump turns his back on the Paris Climate Accord, this 2015 mural seems sadly appropriate. At the conclusion of the COP21 conference in December of that year there seemed to be real hope that the nations of the world could cooperate to reduce the risk of devastating climate change. That hope was battered by Trump’s announcement last night but it’s still hanging on. Mayors of major American cities joined world leaders to reaffirm their commitment to working towards the targets set by the Paris accord. Without the active participation of the US government the challenge is so much harder but there’s hope yet.
The target – here up in lights on the Eiffel Tower in December 2015 – is still the same.

It is incredible and sad, this decision. But yes, let’s be stubborn and just continue carrying out our plans.

Arrogance and ignorance are a terrible combination.
