Wait! The Tour de France is about to go past. We’ve seen the official bakers…
complete with bread oven.
We’ve seen the official madeleine supplier …
the official supplier of spring water, a giant fish, a field of sunflowers, the TV vans, police motorbikes and team support cars. It can’t be long now.
A ripple of applause greets a lone cyclist, enjoying the ride. There’s a while to wait yet.
These are the ones we were waiting for. Sneeze and you’ve missed them.

Yes, there’s a great atmosphere in the street as people wait for the Tour to arrive.

Reminds me of when they came past our door in York…but how much it helps to be tall…!

The crowd wasn’t very dense along this stretch of the route. I happened to be on my way home from one of my regular gardening sessions in Montrouge so i stopped on the boulevard, just inside the Périphérique.

We’ve had this spectacle pass our house three times, twice in France (once each way) and once in Yorkshire. All good fun, and Yorkshire went wild!

A few years ago my sister was in France on holiday when the Tour passed the village they stayed in. Just like you she spent quite some time watching publicity cars going by before the cyclist rushed by in a split second. But the good news is: you managed to capture them! Nice shots.

Thanks for your comment. Last year we went down to watch by the Louvre where the riders go past several times on a series of laps – a very popular spot as you have a second and third chance to see what you missed last time.

Oh, that is an excellent idea. I guess you have to arrive early there. I will tell my sister just in case they want to repeat the experience and actually see something this time.

Must have been so exciting to be in the midst of all that.

The Tour goes through the city every year so people in Paris take it all in their stride. From what I’ve heard from York friends, Yorkshire got much more excited when the Tour started there a couple of years ago.
