The plumbago flowers seem to have been washed with a tint so pale that it only shows blue where it collects in the midribs of the petals. There’s another plumbago nearby with flowers the colour of a clear sky in the early morning. Blue flowers are a feature of the borders in the Jardin des Plantes at present with every shade of blue from pale sky blue to glowing cobalt.

This Iochroma is a rich indigo blue in the shade but in the sun (and in a photo) it seems to change to violet
Another blue that changes to violet in the sun – Lycianthes rantonnetii
There’s a special display of Salvias in the garden at the moment including many gorgeous blues but the oddly angular flowers are scattered along long spikes and are very hard to photograph!

and a desert bluebell from my archive – Phacelia campanularia
