It’s never completely quiet by the sea but when the tide falls on a calm day the gentle hissing of the waves settles towards silence. Early morning and evening low tides are peaceful times for a stroll on the beach at any time of year, weather permitting.
This post was prompted by the Weekly Photo Challenge Silence. The headline photo was taken (with my phone) this week. The others are a selection from the past year.

You are such a bad influence.. I NEED to bring the dog’s back to Spittal Beach. Sand is so much nicer on the paws than shingle!! 😁😁😁

Perhaps i should remind you that the North sea is only warm enough for paddling for two weeks in August and the wind on Spittal beach in January freezes the ears – human or canine I guess!

I especially like the shot with variegations in the sand, although all the photos evoke such calm. I agree, either end of the day is my favourite time to be at the shore.
