By mid morning the streets were covered with dismal, grey slush but in the city parks the snow still lay crisp and white.
The Jardin des Grands Explorateurs was busy with people of all ages making snowmen, throwing snowballs and simply enjoying the crunch of snow underfoot…
but the wonderful snowy landscape of the Jardin du Luxembourg was out of bounds…
to all but a few grounds staff. Snow has been rare in Paris in recent years so locals as well as tourists were lining up to take photos through the gaps in the railings.
The small, formal garden at the Carousel du Louvre seems a quiet place apart whatever the weather, though it’s a stone’s throw from the busy space around the Louvre Pyramid.
The Carousel gardens were open this morning as usual…
but in the Jardin des Tuilleries the snow lay undisturbed.

Late last night the streets were carpeted with fresh snow too but by mid morning today they were simply awash with slush!

It’s the first time I’ve seen more than a sprinkling of snow in Paris in four winters.

So amazing how we people react to one and the same thing in different circumstances. Snow falls in Paris, and everyone goes “wooo” and “so lovely”. Snow falls in Oslo and everyone goes “that shit again?” and “I am so tired of cleaning my way to the exit!”. We tend to appreciate more what we don’t have enough of, even though we may wish 🙂

Very true. Today the novelty of snow in Paris is already wearing off as the pavements are slippery with half melted ice and melting snow is dripping off every building.

Hehe, I can imagine. At least, the city has enjoyed some magical moments, and now it can get rid of the mess))
