Where the horizon is hidden by tall buildings the subtle changes of light at dawn and dusk are easy to overlook. Only a spectacular sunset or sunrise demands attention in the city.
By the sea (or in open country where your gaze can run to the horizon) the sky makes up half the view. Each time I go home to Spittal I’m struck again by the ever changing light of the wide open sky. I suppose I’ll start to take it for granted when I’m there all the time.
Spittal beach faces east, a perfect spot for sunrise watching.
Catching a winter sunrise doesn’t demand early rising.
Sunsets are reflected in high clouds…
or the windows of quayside houses across the river mouth in Berwick.
And finally, looking inland from the old bridge is a good place for a sunset view.

Morning and evening light are so different. I try to take shots in both for important photos.

That sounds a good idea but I’m not that well organised!

like them all – but the cranes one is my fav – that is a lot of building at one time – wow – and so filled with hope – a city is on the rise.
but they also have an artsy vibe lined up like that….

Thanks for your encouragement. Your comment make me realise that this looks like a sunrise photos though it’s actually sunset. It is a positive image as this is a new ‘eco-quartier’ under development.

Yes, that’s a stunning cranes/construction photo, I really love it. And it does have a very vibrant, positive vibe. Totally agree with ‘prior..’

Thanks for your comment. It’s always interesting to here how different people respond to an image.

What a lovely series of varied captures! I love the contrast in rustic and city scapes.
