Low tide at the mouth of the Tweed. No wind and scarcely a ripple to break the reflections.
Hazy, light filled cloud layered over clear blue sky, mirrored in still water.
The dabbling of small wading birds at the water’s edge and and the paddling of a pair of ducks emphasise the stillness rather than breaking it.

As a marine biologist, I have a love for still low tides. Everything in the intertidal zone is exposed and available to the curious. A diurnal glimpse into the underwater world.

Lots of creatures in the intertidal zone are exposed to hungry sea birds too. The seaweed covered mud banks are busy with small waders at low tide.
