Just before the tide turns the river seems to stand still, making a perfect mirror for reflections in the low, afternoon sunlight.
It’s not the first time I’ve posted views of Berwick seen across the river from Tweedmouth Green and it won’t be the last. The view changes with the light of the day at every tide.
The town hall clock tower is the focal point of this view.
Looking down the river from Berwick Bridge brightly painted fishing boats catch the eye.
And towards the mouth of the estuary the old lifeboat house looks across the water to Spittal.

The last one is really my favourite. The water is just a thin piece of mirror.

Once you see it like that, the water does start to seem insubstantial.
