Same walk, different tide, different day.

Low tide at eight o’clock on a calm morning.  The sun is just breaking through the clouds.

Reflected sky on wet sand merges with the sparkling sea.

The pattern of pools and promontories between the rocks changes with every tide.

Streams of fresh water ripple over the sand as they head towards the sea.

Lindisfarne castle is lost in the dazzling haze on the horizon.

Some rocks which only emerge at low tide are furred with red-brown alga.  Others are shaggy with slippery wrack or encrusted with barnacles.

Time to turn for home.
