A sun dried rock, encrusted with barnacles and lined with limpets, all the colour of stone.
‘Stone’ is used as a description of muted tones of grey and beige though stone itself, depending on it’s mineral composition, may also be yellow or cream, pink, blue or black. After five years in a limestone city I’m now living among sandstone walls so that’s the geology reflected by the images in this collection, all the colour of stone.

“…muted tones of grey and beige” might sound very boring, but you are right. Stone colours include a multitude of other shades from pinks and browns to greens and blues. A lovely collection. Thank you!

I’m always surprised by the subtle colours of stone. What at first seems monochromatic, on closer observation is multi hued.

Stone colours are hard to describe and much more interesting than a quick glance suggests.
