A touch of frost has turned the dahlias to mush but there are still fresh flowers to be found in the garden. The last few cornflowers, marigolds and rudbeckia are a reminder of summer, while some over-eager wallflowers offer a foretaste of spring.
From a distance the most eye-catching colour in the garden now is the autumn leaves of the beech hedge – just at the left edge of this picture.
