A morning of wildly changeable weather.
Dark clouds brooding over the wind-whipped surf.
A break in the clouds to the south…
Then sudden, dazzling sunshine.
Looking out to sea it’s hard to tell where the foam covered beach ends and the surf topped waves begin. The tide creeps up unexpectedly under cover of drifting foam.
The clouds close over and a short, sharp shower of hail scours across the beach, picking up sand as it rolls. I hurry to protect my camera under my coat but almost at once…
There’s blue sky to the north and the lighthouse is sunlit against dark clouds.
Changeable weather today!

What an extraordinary sight! Is that a real cold weather view?

It is cold on Spittal beach when there’s a strong east wind blowing!
