A sunny morning on Spittal beach. Sunlight falling on the rippling surface of a tide pool casts tiger striped shadows on pebbles but in the photo the sunlight and the clear water are invisible.
Light is essential to photography but a photo may say little about the quality of that light. Here’s a scrapbook where sunlight (filtered, direct, diffuse or reflected) takes centre stage.

Such subtle, smooth and carefully compiled galleries. Thank you! That Barcelona shot (and building) is especially magnificent.

Lovely photos as always, Judy. Thank you for putting together such uplifting posts – or is it a blog ? Sorry, I’m a bit clueless when it comes to the jargon. But I do know I love your photos !
I’m currently having some problems with my right eye, which may have serious consequences for my vision long term. So making the most of enjoying beautiful things while I can. I’m having a special photograph taken of the inside of the eye on Monday, after which I’ll know a bit more.
Xx

Beautiful images highlighting (get it?!) the importance of light to our images. Especially loved the beautiful ironworks’ shadow and the multi-shaped green-paned window.
