The Town Hall bell tower stands proud above the narrow streets running down to the quayside. Completed in 1760, this distinctive landmark has been the focal point of many engravings, paintings and postcard views.
Berwick’s other landmarks include the medieval town walls and Elizabethan ramparts, a ruined castle and three bridges across the River Tweed. The old Berwick Bridge, completed in 1624, and the dramatic Royal Border Bridge are both worthy of a postcard, but it’s not easy to fit them both in the same view.

Ana’s Postcard theme for the Lens-Artists Challenge led me off on a nostalgic journey, revisiting past holidays and exploring distant cities before turning back closer to home. Greetings from Berwick upon Tweed!

I’d be happy to pin any of these postcards on the kitchen board!

Great contrasts and perspectives in that first photo. Many great angles of the ‘viaduct’ too.
