The almond blossom was nearly over by the time I got my camera out.  Warm sun coaxed the first flowers open in early April.  Cold, grey weather kept the rest of the buds tight shut for two weeks more.  Spring advances by leaps and bounds, then slips backwards for a few days.  One calm, warm day we’re lingering over coffee by the pond.  The next it’s back to winter coat and gloves.  Whatever the long term trends, unpredictability is in the nature of a British spring.

Yesterday the first apple blossom opened to a mild, sunny morning.  Today has been cold, grey and windy.  There’s sunshine forecast for tomorrow.  Perhaps I’ll catch up with spring again.
