It started with a penguin….
A very small penguin, down there on the left.
Berwick is a small town, not the natural habitat of street art, but who’d object to a penguin?
Then, if I remember rightly, the artist added a heron – a more local bird.
Followed by two puffins, avian stars of the Northumberland coast. What’s next?
Ann-Christine’s theme for the Lens-Artists’ Challenge #214, Favourite Finds, prompted me to take my camera to record these appealing local birds, and to search out a collection of other street art birds to keep them company.

This is a charming post, and yes, who’d have thought that you started it in Berwick? Ripon hasn’t yet dipped a toe in the water …

No one has followed suit elsewhere in the town. Sometimes I’m almost tempted myself!

Ooh, that would be interesting. I had similar thoughts in Ripon, but it’s quite a special skill, this street art malarkey, I think.

No chance of me actually taking to street art but we do have a blank pebble-dashed wall at home that might have potential……

A fine mural, with plenty of scope for more birds to be added.

Love this – what lovely finds! And I did not see the penguin until you told me where to look. I also loved the ostriches – what wonderful hairdos! And if you go painting yourself…I do hope you will post on it for us!

Thank you for the challenge that prompted me to take my camera to the penguin’s wall.
