Hiding from the weather on a morning of wind-driven rain, the distant view through a wet window takes on the character of an impressionistic watercolour.
The hills on the horizon rise towards the An Sgurr, a dramatic pitchstone ridge which is the highest point on Eigg. Just out of this picture to the right, the Sgurr was invisible in the clouds.

I hope you had a cosy fire on the go. Imagining you with – and without – gives two very different pictures in my mind.

No cosy fire, but a snug and wind-proof apartment at the wonderful Glebe Barn hostel.

The wind was sounding impressively wild around the building but we were snug and warm inside!
