They are the silent bystanders in so many pictures of Paris. The various styles of traditional cast iron lamp post are city icons, lending an immediate sense of place to a Paris photo. Receding from view along streets, staircases and quays a line of lamps gives a sense of perspective to an image and highlights a change in level. Lamp posts feature in so many of my Paris photos that I decided it was time they had a post of their own.

Mostly modern lamps in Bristol, but still some of the original ones in places that weren’t bombed or ‘developed’. Nice post
