Doors old and new on buildings dating from the 16th to 19th centuries in the town of Piacenza. Incidentally this is also a collection of photos of modern utilities, from electricity cables and gas pipes to junk mail in multiple letter boxes and the recycling boxes to put it in.
As this is a post for Thursday Doors the doors take centre stage here. You can see more of the context in yesterday’s post Colours of Piacenza.

A beautiful selection. I have a feeling that in Italy all the things around the door itself need to remain in the frame for a door photo to really speak. Just lovely.

Thank you. I’m glad that you – a connoisseur of Italian doors – enjoyed the selection.

Hi Judith – I love the doors- and the Opening photo with the slim man walking – with leg up – has such a great composition – 😉

These are lovely. Middle one in the second row is my favorite – nicely done 🙂

Quite a nice collection, Judith. I like the echoing arches in the first shot and the part old-part new brick on the right. I also like the one Norm does, but I enjoyed all of them.

Thanks for your comment, Janet. I hadn’t noticed till you mentioned the echoing arches that round arches feature in most of the photos.

Fantastic collection! So many arches and even better, arched doors in arched door frames. Numbers seven and eight are divine even though they’re complete opposites.

Nice collection! I’m trying to recall where I saw junk mail stuffed in a door mail slot; it was in an European country and I regret I didn’t capture that shot when I saw it.

Thanks for your comment. Junk mail in letter slots is common sight here but not usually so neatly lined up.
