I never tire of walking on Spittal beach. Tide, wind, weather and wildlife combine to make every beach walk a different experience but somehow my photos start to look a little predictable. So here, for a change, is a nostalgic collection of other coastlines, from the Isle of Arran to the Île de Ré and the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. A scrapbook of sea view memories.
Crossing to the Isle of Arran – a sheltered corner of Scotland’s west coast – August 2015
Lochranza castle – Arran – August 2015
Château Royal de Collioure – on the south-east coast of France – July 2015
Sea defences at St Malo – on the north coast of Brittany – October 2015
Looking back from Lindisfarne – just ten miles south of Spittal off the Northumberland coast – May 2017
A glimpse of the Mediterranean from the garden of La Mortola – not far from the border of France and Italy – April 2016
Mediterranean sun at Barcelona – November 2017
Leaving the harbour at Le Palais, Belle Île – an island off the west coast of Brittany – May 2016
Looking out from Marseille to the Îles de Frioul – June 2018
Île de Ré – on the Atlantic coast of France – July 2018
and Manarola…..
on the west coast of Italy – October 2018

What a gloriously eclectic gallery. Such different takes on the sea and shoreline. A lovely virtual holiday at the beginning of a dismal week.

The only sort of holiday – but no travelling stress, at least!
