Sometimes a stand of wildflowers can be as eye-catching as any garden border. This fireweed or rosebay willow herb wouldn’t be welcome in many gardens but it looks lovely set against a backdrop of ripening corn, just by Kelso’s old bridge over the river Tweed.

I agree, and I think it has been a particularly good year for it – I have seen huge stands of it all over the place.

Lovely to see the field edges being allowed to go wild.

Lovely – and I agree with the other commenters, much of them this year and also, in fact many field edges being allowed to stay in flower.

I have seen the white version in gardens, but it always seems like a risk! These do look lovely.

I wouldn’t intentionally plant any willowherb, even the white one, but we have rosebay in the wild part of our patch and it’s easy enough to weed out when it invades the garden proper.
