Along the old railway track, built to carry coal from the Scremeston mine, a dense band of woodland has grown up. The clanking coal wagons are long gone and the track is a quiet, green corridor. Down in the shady cutting, ferns festoon the rock faces and snaking roots brace the trees leaning from the bank above. This wood is full of surprises.

Not so far as I know. My guess is that a whole family is involved as there are also several tin can butterflies and bees, as well as more horseshoe doors. One of the fairies is a good metalworker!

Wonderful. I am trying to work out the puzzle in my head. I can’t do it.

What a special place. My granddaughter would say it’s full of fairies. Who knows? Maybe she’s right
